My name is Jen Hemphill, and I am a Christian mother, rock climber, and writer. I write about a myriad of things through these lenses. I live in Pittsburgh, PA, with my husband, a teenage son, and two cats. Our oldest, adult son lives nearby. I was a full-time mom and homeschooler until Fall 2021, and now I am currently spending much of my time trying to figure out how to write full time and finish a book that I started in grad school many, many…. many years ago. I graduated from Chatham University in 2009 with an MFA in Creative Nonfiction, and my thesis, Mommy’s Doing Pull-Ups in the Basement Again, won Best Thesis in Creative Nonfiction. I have been published in places like The Monongahela Review, Stymie Magazine: A Journal of Sport & Literature, and Voices from the Attic.

This blog is a place for me to write down thoughts that may or may not become longer things. It is a way for me to, hopefully, get my writing out there.
